    Species: Dog
    Condition: Pulmonic Stenosis
    Organ System: Respiratory

Pulmonic stenosis refers to a narrowing of the pulmonic heart valve, which creates a blockage in the blood circulation, thereby forcing the heart to work harder. The greater the extent of the blockage, the harder the heart has to work and the more severe the impact to your dog. This disorder is generally detected when your vet checks your pup’s heart as part of a routine check-up and confirmed with an echocardiogram (ECG) scan and/or a chest Xray. Mild pulmonic stenosis may not require any specific treatment; your vet will give advice on managing the condition. More severe cases may be controlled by medication or in worst case surgery.
