    Species: Dog
    Condition: Hypo-dysmyelinogenesis
    Organ System: Nervous/sensory

Myelin covers your dog’s nerves and performs a vital role in transmitting information from the nerves to the brain. If your dog suffers from Hypo-/dysmyelinogenesis, they are either deficient in or have abnormal myelin, mainly in the spinal cord. This disorder’s nickname of “shaking pup” is an apt description of the main symptoms which include problems with balance, coordination, and positioning. This condition is associated with the male Springer Spaniel, although it does occur in other breeds, notably the Golden retriever. There is no treatment however dogs other than Springer Spaniels often recover on their own.
