Species: Dog
Condition: Chondrosarcoma
Organ System: Musculoskeletal

This is a fast-spreading and malignant form of cancer affecting the bone. The chondrosarcoma originates from the cartilage of the bone, often metastasizing to other parts of the body. This is the most common tumor affecting the rib of dogs. Most cases of chondrosarcoma involve flat bones. When the limbs are affected, bone structure weakens due to the invasive property of the tumor. Bone fractures are quite common. The problem is mostly seen in large dog breeds as well as older dogs, around eight years of age.
