Species: Dog
Condition: Aortic Body Tumors
Organ System: Cardiovascular
Cancer of the small organ in aorta (near the heart) that regulates the blood pressure. It interferes with the heart’s normal ability to pump blood. The owner notices weakness, loss of appetite, shortness of breath and fainting. Upon detailed veterinary examination, the diagnosis is made. Depending on the malignancy, in some cases metastases can be seen. Along with chest X-ray, heart ultrasound and ECG, blood and urine tests help to evaluate the condition. The optimal solution for aortic body tumour is surgical treatment; but the owners should be aware of the possible complications and costs accompanying that solution.
