The cerebellum controls movement. Cerebellar hypoplasia is a genetic defect which means that the cerebellum fails to develops normally in the womb. If your dog has cerebellar hypoplasia you are likely to notice them having problems with movement, ranging from poor balance, to inability to stand or walk properly. This defect is generally apparent from birth or very shortly afterwards, although initially it may be attributed to puppy clumsiness. Although there is no treatment for this condition, it does not get worse with age or have any other impact on your dog’s health (either physical or mental).
